However, keep in mind not every collection of rattan wicker is weather proofed. Therefore, be careful to take precautions as you clean it. For instance, do not leave let it sit in the sun for too long, especially if you know for sure it is UV-shielded or waterproofed. 

Untreated Rattan 

Rattans (or similar wicker materials) that are not treated sometimes dry out very quickly. Therefore, it is very important keep any untreated pieces out of the sun when not in use. Likewise, and keep them away from move them away from other heat sources such as fire. 

In addition to keeping it out of the sun, you should dust every piece regularly and vacuum your entire set often. This will further help you remove the dust out of the cracks in the finishes, and seams.
